School/Service/CAS Projects for Grade 10 and 11 Students
This announcement is for Grade 10 and 11 students for both the Prince Hassan Youth Award and CAS.
Every summer, the IB has World Student conferences at well-known universities all over the world. This year there will be three conferences. One in Washington DC, Rotterdam (the Netherlands), and Hong Kong.
I have worked at these conferences and they are excellent. They bring students going into both DP1 and DP2 from all over the world, and from all walks of life. They give students the opportunity to explore a specific conference theme, meet and interact with world renowned speakers and guests, develop CAS projects, and engage with TOK. Lastly, it introduces students to university life and direct contact with admissions counselors from these schools (great experience when applying to universities!). Sometimes students even get offers from the universities that host the conferences!
The IB has scholarships for these conferences called the IBWSC Newbies Scholarship. For a student to qualify for this scholarship, they need to implement a CAS project developed at one of last year's conferences in IAA. These are great ideas for both the Prince Hassan Youth Award and CAS. A list of those projects can be found here:
If a student is interested in pursuing this, I encourage them to come see me so I can help advise and ensure eligibility for the scholarship.
